After graduating from the BRG Higher Secondary School Spittal and then graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Telematics / Network Technology from the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, the Carinthian began his professional career as an IT specialist in systems integration where he set up a hospital information system among other things.
“My degree program really brought me a lot, and among other things, I was able, with the support of the university, to write both my bachelor work and master thesis at Airbus. This got me my job”, says Blatnik. Since a one-year stay at the Airbus facility near Ingolstadt was already planned during the Communication Engineering master program, a number of hurdles had to be overcome in order to successfully complete his degree.
“I received extensive support from the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences as well as my fellow students, so that I could attend lectures – on-line and distance, self-study or condensed as in-person block lessons. Thus, I was able to successfully complete my studies,” says Blatnik.
His stay didn’t stop after a year. Marco Blatnik has now been with Airbus Defence and Space since 2021 and has determinedly climbed his career ladder and has worked on many future-oriented projects, some of them as the project leader.
In October 2018, he climbed one more step on his career ladder and is presently in this position. Blatnik is currently a Chief Engineer at the Airbus Drone Lab and with his team, he works on military and civil projects for the aerospace industry.
When he is not working on new aerospace projects, he relaxes by wakeboarding. “I would recommend studying at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences because it offers a multi-faceted education that has helped me a lot in my previous positions,’ says Blatnik.
