Population development, rapid progress in medicine, nursing and technology, increasing quality awareness in hospitals and nursing facilities, growing cost pressure and, last but not least, the increasing demands of patients and clients require highly qualified and competent managers and nursing service managers.
Continuing education relevant to practice
The Health & Nursing Manager course offers employees from the health and care sector a practice-relevant further education in order to be best equipped for the complex requirements in the management sector. Building on the basic course "Basic and Intermediate Nursing Management", this course serves as a subject-specific consolidation and scientific examination of practice-relevant topics in the health and nursing sector.
According to § 65a GuKG, this continuing education course is equated with the special training for leadership tasks in health care & nursing.

Aim & content
The FH course academic health and nursing manager is aimed at employees from the nursing and health care sector who hold or aspire to hold a nursing service management or equivalent management position in hospitals, nursing facilities or retirement homes.
The aim of this FH course is to impart competencies that enable graduates to assume managerial functions within the meaning of Section 17 (6) of the GuKG or similar health care institutions.

- Completed further education course for basic & middle management (basic course) or comparable education
Zentrale Inhalte
The focus of the training to become an academic health and nursing manager is on teaching leadership skills and social-communicative skills as well as on teaching specialist skills in the relevant disciplines, such as health and nursing sciences.
Course focus:
- Communication: communication and conflict management, presentation techniques
- Health - Illness - Society: nursing and health structures, public health
- Science and profession: nursing science and research, nursing organization, research praxeology, statistics
- Leadership and management: Project management, staff leadership and staff development
- Management and Applied Nursing Management: Economics, Business Administration, Quality Management, Management Concepts, Nursing Diagnostics
- Thesis
Final examination:
The final examination consists of a final project (written thesis and presentation of the project to the examination committee) and a final colloquium.
Organization & dates
The FH course "Academic Health & Nursing Manager" comprises four semesters and is organized on a part-time basis. Weekend blocks allow the combination of study and work.

An average of 6 block courses are held each semester from Thursday to Saturday.
