A Unique Collaboration with Grandmaster Markus Ragger

1. Innovative Collaboration: Students and a Chess Grandmaster

In this innovative project, Grandmaster Markus Ragger has teamed up with four talented students from two BA programs “Intercultural Management” and “Digital Business Management” at FH Kärnten: lead Albertina Terciu (Romania), Dominik Guzelnig (Austria), Thomas Monay (Austria), and Alessandro Simoniti (Italy). This collaboration merges the brilliance of a chess grandmaster with the fresh perspectives of a mixed team of Austrian and international students, aiming to explore and conquer the digital dimensions of the chess world.

Over the last three months, the team has focused on establishing a robust social media presence for GM Ragger, particularly targeting the DACH region. By providing digital and technical support and crafting effective marketing strategies, the project has ensured efficient and impactful delivery. The results speak volumes: GM Ragger has made substantial strides in establishing his digital persona, building a promising audience, and creating educational content designed to reach and inspire chess enthusiasts across all DACH countries.

This project is implemented as part of FH Kärnten's BA innovative business curriculum within the module "Project Management." It spotlights the importance of international student groups working together on real-life projects, enriching their academic experience while making tangible impacts in the professional world.

2. Building a Digital Chess Kingdom

In just a short three-month period, collaborative efforts have achieved significant milestones, including securing affiliate status on Twitch. This achievement allows for more authentic interactions with GM Ragger. The grandmaster’s attentiveness to viewer feedback and his willingness to support those eager to improve their chess skills have played a pivotal role in this success.

Project team Bi-weekly workshops with GM Ragger have equipped him with essential skills for streaming and social media management. These sessions covered video editing, content creation, streaming setup, and even graphic design.. His expertise as Austria’s national coach shines through in every stream, offering a unique and accessible learning experience for all.

3. Future Prospects

The remarkable results of this project underscore the successful collaboration between GM Markus Ragger and the FH Kärnten students, marking a unique and enriching experience.
