Material Circularity - Micro Credential

The following topics and content are covered in the Micro Credential “Material Circularity”:

  • Materials of the future (organic, metallic, mineral)
  • Manufacturing processes of the future (3D printing, sintering, what is technically planned)
  • Circuits of the future (reuse, recycling)
  • Resource conservation (modularity, circulation times of building services engineering)
  • Reflection on the interactions with ecological, economic and/or social sustainability
  • Possible contributions are discussed, assessed and calculated in group work.

The course will use existing future projects to provide an overview of the construction methods of the near future, in order to give space for considerations as to which building materials and constructions can be expected in the future. The basis for this is provided by the development of materials of the future and the analysis of the raw materials market and raw materials production. An important factor is the recycling rate and the amount of raw materials that can be produced with it. The new system cycles provide the basis for this. Manufacturing processes for materials and designs are incorporated into the course, thereby demonstrating their major influence on construction methods.
