The students
• apply central terms and definitions of the scientific study of global, cross-border exchange processes.
• distinguish between central theoretical perspectives on global relations.
• identify and discuss relevant actors in global relations.
• analyse the different dimensions of global relations.
• discuss current dynamics and issues in global relations.

• Central terminology and definitions of the academic study of global, cross-border processes in the VUCA world
• Overview of central theoretical perspectives on global relations
• Actors in global relations, esp. states, international organisations, transnational actors (NGOs, multinational corporations), sub-state actors (federal states, regions, municipalities)
• Dimensions of global relations in the VUCA world, esp.
- the global system (United Nations, world economic system)
- regional systems (regional integration processes), state systems (foreign policy of selected case studies with focus on the Alps-Adriatic region)
- transnational systems (case study of cross-border cooperation of sub-state actors with focus on the Alps-Adriatic region)
