Students reflect the meaning and approach of practical projects in Social Work and gain an overview of current topics and approaches of social intervention. They are familiar with typical project approaches and can classify them in terms of impact and effort. Requirements of sustainability and participation can be used as standards. Necessary enquiries can be planned, project developments anticipated. Students are able to define work packages, sketch provisional work plans and finance plans. They are able to draft project exposés and to defend them in the plenary assembly.
Firstly, reports of different practical projects of Social Work are read and discussed. The overview of current topics and approaches of social interventions are presented in the context of local needs and conditions and reflected upon. The impact and effort of projects are discussed using example cases. Attention is paid to questions to ensure the sustainability of short-term interventions in the field and requirements for attendance and participation. At the end of the semester a project exposé is drafted, where possible work packages are defined, provisional work- and finance plans are sketched.
