The students understand the classical traffic theory, Poisson modeled network and capacity planning, they see the difference compared with the much more complex IP traffic modeling and planning.
The module provides the students with an understanding of different IT service management frameworks. The students can explain the concepts of IT Service Management and know how to define and organize Service Level Agreements (SLA) to fulfill the requirements of given Key Performance Indicators.
Furthermore, the students get insights into the process of Network Manage-ment and the corresponding tools. They can apply these tools for conventional network architectures as well as in the field of Network-Function Virtualization (NFV) with Software-defined Networking concepts (SDN).
Basic knowledge in networking technology and communication networks. Basic knowledge in statistics.
The module represents the interface between technical and business-manage-ment topics in the field of Information and Communication Technology. The first part contains planning, implementing and verifying network capacity to get reliability. The second part deals with the technical parts how to measure, evalu-ate and optimize network performance. The third part covers strategies, work-flows and business-processes about the management of general IT services.
