Advanced study in Big Data with a focus on current storage technologies, infrastructures and data processing using existing technologies. Students master the modeling of non-relational databases with a special focus on data-intensive applications.

Introduction to programming and Basics of computer science, database systems.

The following topics will be covered in the course:

  • Database technologies & query languages (NoSQL, XPath, ...)
  • Data warehousing
  • Big Data
  • Data protection and privacy
  • Data security
Individual examples are implemented using a selected programming language as well as database system.
