The students are able to apply in safety-relevant practical situations the criteria for the choice and the design of fastening systems and to choose appropriate anchorages. Depending on the application conditions, they can judge and compare advantages and disadvantages of the different fastening systems.

The students can describe different relevant methods for retrofitting of structures. Concerning practical situations with the requirement of strengthening a structure, they are able to define different relevant aspects in the decision process for a certain strengthening method. They judge the feasibility, effectiveness and economical side taking into account the requirements concerning safety against failure, serviceability and durability.
