Students know the design methodology for complex digital systems. They are able to design complex digital systems according to specification, model the design in VHDL, implement and verify digital systems for FPGA target hardware platforms. They are familiar with system optimization regarding hardware resources and power consumption.

Electrical and Electronic Engineering 1-2, Signalprocessing, Measurement and Sensor Technology, Control Engineering 1-2, Electronic Circuit Technology 1-2, Device development

Design methodology for complex digital systems (HDL modelling of systems in terms of behavior and hardware structure), verification methodology (reactive HDL testbench, dynamic and static methods, CAD tools), implementation technology (extended properties of FPGA's, clock networks, power analysis, EMC, CAD tools), system analysis, HDL modelling, executable specification, advanced digital circuits (measurement and arithmetic circuits, state machines), system optimization at HDL level and with CAD tools regarding resources and power consumption.
