Based on an historical perspective on health professions, students can understand current developmental efforts of the various players in health sciences, in particular biomedical sciences, as well as establish relationships within and derive effects on the professionalization of health work. They are able to reflect on their own profession with its different fields of work in biomedical analysis and their specific tasks, objectives and structures and to relate to other health professions. They can recognize, analyze and reflect norms and ethical principles for professional actions. Students are also capable of understanding the social, legal and institutional frameworks for health work and by doing so they can take individual cultural and religious needs, lifestyles and values into account when deciding their own actions. They are aware of the responsibility for their own professional actions (keyword: responsibility ethics), recognize the limits of self-responsible professional practice and can relate to the relevant legal regulations.
