Students know concepts of Transformative Science and Citizen Science (Bürgerwissenschaft) and can relate them to their understanding of Social Work as a science. They develop an understanding of Social Work as an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary science, which is linked regionally and locally with civic and civil society involvement and thus promotes social processes of change on a regional and local level. They are also capable of critically reflecting this understanding of science against the background of questions about value freedom, level of democratisation of science.
The concepts of Transformative Science and Citizen Science are elaborated and are related to concepts of Social Work as a science and reflected critically. Possibilities of democratisation of research questions, methods and organisations are discussed, beyond the questions of economic exploration.
