The students know the requirements of large scale infrastructure and are able to support various departments in the conception of suitable data models.
They can provide basic guidelines on data sources and data quality with respect to a given problem domain.
The students are able to select and operate a modern and high-performance database system for given problem cases.

Basic knowledge in the definition and specification of relational databases and modelling of such systems

The module covers the following topics/contents:

  • Basics of data architecture
  • Basics of modern database technologies
  • Object-oriented, temporal, spatial, and graph database systems
  • Non-relational database systems
  • Distributed database systems
  • Security and optimization in database systems
