In this seminar students gain additional writing skills in preparation to writing the first Bachelor thesis including organizational structure, formatting skills and usage of appropriate language. Students shall expand their citing skills and be able to use appropriate and accurate citing sources.
English Basics, WA-1
Focus of course is on specific writing techniques (gender-neutral, IMRAD, 5-paragraph essay, abstract writing, genre-based citing and referencing guides) used in scientific journals and academic papers. The Introduction-Methods-Results-Analysis-Discussion structure of a paper will be used in this course. Emphasis will be placed on ethics and plagiarism in writing as well.
