Upon the successful completion of the Language Immersion Course German (DaF) 3, students will acquire the following competencies regarding the German language:

  • talk about personal interests
  • voice complaints
  • lead a mini-dialogue in the office
  • understand a typical Austrian menu
  • read/understand housing adverts
  • talk to a estate agent
  • report on accidents
  • talk about cultural interests
  • talk about things in the past
  • talk about education and the job market
  • understand job adverts and write CVs
  • answer telephone calls in the office
  • write simple business emails
  • describe cultural festivals in German speaking countries
  • express emotions
  • understand product descriptions
  • read business texts
  • express purpose
  • describe processes

This is a language course for slightly advanced students with basic knowledge of German (at CEF level A2-B1). The following language topics will be covered in this module:

  • Communication with a focus on speaking abilities
  • Grammar progress - focus of revision
  • Languages and Europe
  • Vocabulary and expressions related to
    • Life in German speaking countries
    • Relatives and Family
    • Mobility
    • The world of business
    • Freetime activities
    • Intercultural issues and intercultural communication
  • Introduction into genres of academic/student texts
