As part of the module "Urban and Regional Development", students acquire an in-depth knowledge in the management and marketing of (economic) sites, based on the objectives, planning methods and instruments of development of cities (including downtown and neighborhood development) and regions and the economic determinants of the different distribution of economic activities in the region (including the related thereto influences of increasing economic globalization).

The example of the international economic integration in Austria and with special attention to local and regional economic impacts of globalization are basic foreign economic theories (such as Ricardian model, the Heckscher-Ohlin model, Krugman model) and terms (such as balance of payments, exchange rate, comparative costs, free trade and international public goods) explained. In addition, relevant instruments of foreign economic policies (such as tariffs, subsidies, quotas) and institutions (eg IMF, World Bank and OECD) will be discussed.
