Upon the successful completion of the Language Immersion Course Russian 3, students will acquire the following competencies related to the Russian language:
- form and understand complex texts
- read and write texts
- make oneself well understood in everyday situations
- understand audio and video messages
- talk about life in the office
- speak about experiences (e.g. childhood, zoo)
- talk about cultural life (e.g. theatre, cinema)
- describe oneself (how do I look like)
- have conversations about health
This is a language course for slightly advanced students with basic knowledge of Russian (at CEF level A2-B1). The following language topics will be covered in this module:
- Endings of the genitive case and its use
- The dative case in the construction "mne nužen"
- The pronoun "kotoryj" in the nominative case
- Introduction to the term "verbal aspect"
- Pronouns with "ni-, "-to and "nibud' " (nikto , kto-to , kto-nibud'
- The use of "li" and "esli"
- Generalization of the prepositional case of nouns
- Personal pronouns in all cases
- Generalization of the dative case of nouns
- The verbs "moč' "and "umet' "
- Introduction to "verbs of motion"
- Generalization of the accusative case of nouns
- The use of the verb pairs "ležat' - ložit'sja", "viset' - vešat' " "sidet' - sadit'sja"
- The degrees of comparison of adjectives and adverbs
- The constructions are "takoj že, kak" and "tak že, kak"
- The use of verbs of motion in the present tense
- The genitive case of adjectives and possessive pronouns
- The questions "Čej?", "Č'ja?", "Č'ë?", "Č'i?"
- The possessive pronoun "svoj"
- The basic use of verbs of motion without prefixes in all tenses
- The formation and use of short adjectives
- The instrumental case of adjectives and possessive pronouns
- Using the instrumental case
- Shopping and talking about goods and prices
- Work and job duties
- Vacation (e.g. on a beach)
- Talking about children and their activities
- Wild animals and pets
- The appearance of a person and going to the hairdresser.
- Description of city streets and public transport
- The theatre, the actor's work, talking about a play
- Insects, snakes and spiders (including the habitat of insects)
- Diseases, taking care of your health, going to the doctor
- Shopping
- Office life
- Holidays at the sea
- My childhood
- At the zoo / animals
- Personal description (How do I look like?)
- Asking for the way and describe directions
- Cultural interests / at the theatre.
