The students have mastered the basic concepts and the fundamental interrelationships of project management and are able to apply these in project work. They are able to process individual subtasks in project management in a structured manner using specific methods.

The course includes the following main topics:

  • Definitions and basic terms in project management
  • Types of projects and objectives/non-objectives of projects
  • Project Phases - Overview:
    • Project preparation
    • Project development and planning
    • Project implementation and controlling
    • Project completion
  • Project order creation
  • Project Manual

The following basic literature will be used in the course:

  • Patzak, Gerold/Rattay, Günter (Projektmanagement): Projektmanagement; Leitfaden zum Management von Projekten, Projektportfolios und projektorientierten Unternehmen, 4th edition, Linde, 2004;
  • Gareis, Roland (Project Management): Happy Projects!, Manz Verlag, 3rd edition 2006;
Additional literature will be announced during the course.

Final grade comprised of

  • Presentation,
  • Partial tests (continuous assessment)
