• The students will be have a knowledge concerning age related diseases, changes, chronic conditions, effects/limitations on daily life and user/ need classification in the field of care and health.
• Students are familiar with relevant approaches in Assistive Technologies, AAL and Smart Living technologies in the field of health and care Further they will have a basic knowledge about Human Computer Interaction (HCI) for relevant AAL user groups and a basic knowledge about evaluation domains related to usability and acceptance of User interfaces and Assistive Technologies
• Further the students will have knowledge concerning selected approaches in the field of Applied Machine Learning in the field of ADL recognition. In relation to this they will have knowledge about practical implementation and deployment chain on Smart Home solutions

Fundamentals in the field of AAL
• Overview on age related diseases, changes, chronic conditions, effects/limitations on daily life and user/ need classification (e.g. ICF, ICD-10, etc.)
• Detailed Overview on related Assistive Technologies, AAL and Smart Living technologies in health and care for older people and people with impairments. Students will get insight in the concepts and
technological approaches of the solution and a technical overview of relevant enabling technologies (sensor technologies, pre-processing, signal analysis, classification, networks and transmission, etc.).
• Introduction to Human Computer Interaction (HCI) for relevant user groups - Including user experience design, user-centered design and usability. Design interfaces and interactions in healthcare - Including principles of interaction design. Introduction to CSCW as a way to understand the broader collaborative context of healthcare. - Designing systems fitting for AAL user groups, which fit in with healthcare work practices. Methods to engage with users and stakeholders in the design process. Inclusion of ethical concepts and research ethics in the field of the participative development approach.
• Evaluations concepts related to domains (usability, usage, acceptance) of healthcare systems in use.

ML basic methods in the field of AAL
