The students are able to solve systems of differential equations and are familiar with the most important partial differential equations in physics and engineering.
They understand the results in a physical context by using the PDE-MATLAB Toolbox or other appropriate numerical tools.
The students can apply advanced methods of linear algebra and vector calculus for modelling physical and technical systems and are able to discuss the solutions and analyze the resulting data.

  • Systems of Differential Equations
  • Linear Algebra: special topics (e.g. Single Value Decomposition)
  • Vector calculus, line and surfaces integrals, integral theorems
    (Gauss, Stokes, Green)
  • Partial differential equations
(heat equation, Poisson's equation, wave equation)
  • Numerical methods for solving differential equations
  • Statistics & data analysis
