Students are able to understand and discuss the impact of power electronics topologies, PCB layout on EMI/EMC and control strategies. They have acquired a broad overview and insight on various relevant practical measurement techniques of EMI/EMC. They know how to transfer and apply their academic knowledge of EMI/EMC design measures, measurement techniques and EU CE directives, standards and regulations to relevant use cases within the industrial environment of design, production and application of energy conversion systems.

LV "Physics of Electronic Devices" (IPE)
ILV "Electrodynamics" (SD)

Selected topics of EMI/EMC related to power electronic systems, such as:

  • EM wave propagation
  • Antenna physics
  • Interaction of EMI and smart power IC design
  • Interaction of power PCB layout and EMI
  • Simulation of EM radiation of power electronics systems
  • Antenna design
  • EMI measurement techniques
  • Measurement of EMI on system level
  • Regulation
