Students are able to describe and analyze advanced circuit topologies of modern AC & DC power converters. They thoroughly understand the technical and economical requirements of industrial, consumer & automotive energy conversion applications.
They know how to apply advanced analytical and numerical methods & principles to create models of these converters and derive their static and dynamic transfer functions. They are also able to transfer this knowledge to their control theory lecture in order to derive appropriate control concepts there.
Students are able to make skilled design decisions in selection and implementation of circuit topologies to optimize the efficiency & performance of power electronic system designs in various applications under technical & economic limitations.
They reflect and understand the impact of their skilled design, topology and component selection on robustness and reliability of power electronic converter systems. They also know and incorporate EMC and functional safety regulations and requirements into their holistic design approach.
