Students are able to identify aspects of data protection law and apply them to problems relating to all aspects of the data life-cycle (from generation to presentation).
They are familiar with concepts such as personal data, privacy, privacy and informed consent.
Students understand the mechanisms behind anonymization and pseudonymization and can apply them to real uses-cases.
Students are able to critically analyze ethical and social aspects of collecting and managing (big) data.

The module covers the following topics/contents:

  • General data protection regulation (Datenschutzgrundverordnung DSVGO)
  • Copyright / E-commerce law
  • Ethical considerations regarding the privacy and control of user generated data
  • Data privacy and anonymization
