On successful completion of the course, students are able to:
- independently prepare a scientific paper and write a structured, formally correct research report following the criteria of science..
- apply the citation rules used in the School of Management or in the field of study Business & Management and
- critically examine the sources (focus on the Internet),
- differentiate between different forms of scientific publications (subject encyclopaedias, handbooks, meta-analyses, reviews, research articles, etc.), classify them according to their type of literature, allocate their contribution to gaining knowledge, and understand and link their essential content,
- comprehend scientific texts, clarify, compare and prepare different points of view,
- formulate a scientific problem specific to the course of study and derive a research question from the current state of research,
- research literature in a targeted and efficient manner and document, systematise and present the results accordingly,
- apply the methods of scientific work,
The course will cover the following topics/content:
- Planning one's own research process on a study programme-specific question
- Scientific writing: adequate, logically structured presentation in reports, thesis papers and presentations
- Scientific handling of literature: types of literature, literature research and information procurement, sources and correct citation, literature processing and paraphrasing
- Formulation of research question, research objective
- Choice of topic as well as sensible and correct delimitation of topics
- Structure and outline of scientific papers

Combined module examination
The module grade is calculated from the ECTS-weighted average of the result of the course "Statistics II" and the result of the integrative module part (course "Methods of Scientific Work II" and course "Fundamentals of Empirical Social Research II"). The result of the integrative module part is calculated from the ECTS-based weighted average of the integrative module examination parts in the courses "Methods of Scientific Work II" and "Fundamentals of Empirical Social Research II". The module grade is calculated as follows:
ILV "Methods of Scientific Work II" - 1.5 ECTS credits.
- Examination character: final
- Form of examination: Planning and implementation of a research project in small groups with a final presentation and research report.
- 37.5 % of the result of the integrative module examination part is included in the result of the integrative module part. 67% of the integrative module part is included in the module grade.
