The theoretical and technical training shall be balanced and coordinated with the clinical training in such a way that the knowledge and experience gained so far may be acquired in an adequate manner. Clinical instruction shall take the form of supervised in-service training in hospital departments or other health services approved by the competent authorities or bodies. As part of this training, student midwives shall participate in the activities of the departments concerned in so far as those activities contribute to their training. They shall be taught the responsibilities involved in the activities of midwives. The practical and clinical training is to be dispensed under appropriate supervision (according to European Union Standards for Nursing and Midwifery, 2009; Articles 40-42 of 2005/36/EC).

RESG, REGWB, RSGWB, RASG, MEDG-1, MEDG-2, PSHEB-1, PSHEB-2, BP-1 and 2

During the third internship students shall implement and continuously strengthen their gained knowledge based on courses and clinical experience. The focus for the third internship is patient-oriented care during pregnancy, delivery, monitoring of mother and child and post partum care. This internship students shall start to conduct their first deliveries. They also shall be able to interpretmanagement and interventions during labor. Appropriate communication, proper documentation and hygienic working is demanded. The students shall be able to examine and monitor women in puerperium as well as healthy neonates.
The main focus shall be set on achieved competencies during following modules:
Regular Processes of Pregnancy and Childbirth (RESG)
Regular Processes of Labor and Delivery (REGWB)
Regular Processes of Pregnancy, Childbirth and the Postpartum Period (RESGW)
Divergent Processes during Pregnancy and Childbirth (RASG)
Irregular Processes during and after Childbirth (RAGWB)
