Students are able to
• understand, analyze and formulate automation tasks.
They know
• how the essential components of a process work.
They can
• define an automation process and
• build and model process automation.

B2.00000.12.110 - Physics 1
B2.00000.21.160 - Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering
B2.00000.22.220 - Electric Drives
B2.00000.20.080 - Mathematical Modeling and Parameterization
B2.00000.30.110 -Measurement and sensor technology2

Theory:
• Principles and goals of automation of technical processes and technical installations
• Automation structures, concepts, procedures
• Components and process peripherals (sensors, actuators, interfaces, bus systems)
• Software concepts in automation
• Security structures and SI systems in automation
• Process simulation with selected computer programs (e.g. Matlab / Simulink, Mathcad, Mathematica etc.) (model creation, model variation)
• Selected topics (such as Frequency Converters, Motor Drives, Industry 4.0, AI, Big Data, State Theory, Graph Theory, Future Process Automation, Management, etc.)
Practice:
Tutorial topics are e.g. frequency converter drives, small motor drives, mechatronic applications, traffic light control etc.
The tutorials take place with

  • • a cross-platform hardware for control with appropriate software (e.g. Matlab / Simulink, Labview, Arduino Software, Mathematica, etc.) and PLC / fieldbus controlled automation (Fundamentals / Digital analogue, programming, sensor / actuatorics)
