The students understand the biogenesis, properties, structure and function of cells and their central importance as a prerequisite of life; acquire basic knowledge about organisation and structure of the human organism as well as the essential physiological processes in the body. The students have basic knowledge of the composition and structure of the human organism and are able to understand the complex relationships between cells, tissues, organs and the whole organ system and are aware of the importance of physiology for the assessment of bodily functions.

  • Structure, morphology and function of cells and tissues; embryogenesis
  • Structure and function of the musculoskeletal system,
  • Structure and function of the respiratory system, the cardiovascular system,
  • Structure and function of the blood-forming organs including coagulation and lymph;
  • Structure and function of the digestive system including metabolism,
  • Structure and function of the genito-urinary system including acid-base / electrolyte metabolism,
  • Structure and function of the nervous system,
  • Structure and function of the skin and sensory organs and
  • Structure and function of the endocrine organs
