Students shall apply the hospital law and know the involvement of health care professionals in the Austrian system. They learn about the provisions of the Data Protection Act and the Health Telematics Act as well as the employee protection provisions. They shall use the treatment contract,know the legal consequences of defective treatment and the subject specific criminal law.
As part of the general subjects for obtaining evidence of formal qualifications in midwifery, the schedule in third semester includes 'Legal and Ethical Framework of Midwifery'. Due to the Euopean Standards for Nursing and Midwifery students shall learn about professional ethics and professional legislation as well as legal protection of mother and infant (according to European Union Standards for Nursing and Midwifery (Vgl. FH-Heb-AV StF: BGBl. II Nr. 1/2006 (Fassung 2016)).
