Students are able to use basic management tools for discussion & moderation within learning and project teams.
They apply good scientific writing and style principles in their reports, know the format of a scientific paper, the process of peer review and are skilled in the art of professional presentation in front of an academic or industrial audience.
The course covers the following topics/contents:
- Scientific writing & style
- Structure of a scientific argument
- Evidence, reasons, warrants and claims
- Elements of a manuscript / paper
- Citing references
- The publishing and review process
- Documentation of laboratory work
- Presentation skills, discussion & moderation
- Basics structure for delivering effective presentations
- Presenting through voice, body language and audience engagement
- Using visual aids
