After this course students shall be able to organize and structure their own prenatal class. They shall demonstrate their instructions to the class and try out different things and get feedback within the class.

During this course students shall learn the organizational skills to prepare a prenatal class as well as develop methods and concepts of teaching. It is important that students are able to respond to different settings in adequate ways and to approach childbirth and preparation of parenthood in various groups (women, primipara, multipara, couples, men, private lessons,...). In this course students shall get the opportunity to experience relaxation and body awareness, and to focus on techniques for information transfer and use of materials.

According to European Union Standards for Nursing and Midwifery (Vgl. FH-Heb-AV StF: BGBl. II Nr. 1/2006 (Version 2016)) midwives have an important part in women health care and providing health care education. They should be able to teach hygiene measurements, nutrition and dietetics with particular reference to women, newborn and young babies as well as to teach sex education, family planning. Midwives should be able to respond to basic socio-medical questions.
