Students
know the meaning of education as a universal human right and can reconstruct and analyse it in its relation of factuality and validity in terms of social disparities and injustices within the educational and training systems;
know the economic, political-social and cultural dimensions/challenges when realising an inclusive pedagogic with the horizon of egalitarian diversity.

Completion of the courses "Social Work and Human Rights", "Diversity and Human Rights"

In the course, explicit and implicit references to education as a universal human right are elaborated in the classical and current education theories, and social disparities or inequalities in the education and training systems are analysed and discussed. The focus is on economic, political, social and cultural dimensions/challenges in relation to the realisation of access and empowerment to act as a contribution to reduce/overcome educational injustices. In the process, the social functions and pedagogic tasks of educational and training institutions are fully differentiated in four ways: (a) selection and allocation function - equality of education and equality of opportunity; (b) political legitimation function - globalisation, Europeanization, human rights and democracy; (c) acquisition of cultural traditions - particularism, universalism and pluralism; (d) social integration function - welfare state justice and life world diversity.
