Through this course students shall get introduced to out-of-hospital care. Students shall get an insight in home births, birthing centers, midwive's practice and home visits as well as prenatal and postpartum classes. They shall get an idea of the self-employed working frame and how to organize and manage their schedules and how to proper document. It is important that they understand emergency management in a self-employed setting. Students shall experience their limits of their profession and when to intervene.

According to European Union Standards for Nursing and Midwifery (FH-Heb-AV StF: BGBl. II Nr. 1/2006 (Version 2016) medicine, health education, hygiene and nutrition, dietetics are a part of midwifery work.
During this course students learn about evidence based out-of-hospital care, emergency drills, tax and insurance, accessibility, time management, documentation and education, etc.
