Students are familiar with current challenges of globalisation, international politics, migration and escape and are able to relate them to possibilities for action and concepts of Social Work. They are capable of critically analysing human rights violations, oppression and exclusion mechanisms in global society and to categorise them with a view to action on various levels (international, European, regional, national and local). Students also know about historical, current and innovative approaches to human rights, civil society and political design. They also recognise the interdependent involvement of social, political, cultural and economic problems in global society.

Completion of the courses "Social Work and Human Rights", "Diversity and Human Rights", "Education and Justice"

In the course, current challenges of the global society are critically debated and linked to discourses and conceptual possibilities of action in Social Work. The focus is on human rights violations, structural violence, social inequality and questions of diversity and difference in relation to different international contexts and focus groups as well as the reflexion on their involvement with their own national, local and life world life conditions. At the same time, Social Work itself must be critically reflected in the area of conflict of universalist claims and principles of cultural particularism.
