The students have basic knowledge of psychodynamic processes, have acquired communicative competences at the micro-social level and are also trained in their awareness of social perception. They can reflect and analyze their personal communication behavior. In addition, the students are able to conduct informative, counseling and educational discussions in a situation-adapted and professional manner and are able to establish a basis of trust in the patient-centered interaction with the patient or the relatives considering cultural and religious needs as well as ways of life and values.

  • Fundamentals of communication psychology
  • Conversational basics (elements of conversation, conversation techniques, comprehensibility, style, atmosphere, dealing with emotions, questioning technique)
  • Feedback rules; success criteria of interviewing - case studies / criteria for recognizing successful or failed communication
  • Information, education and counseling sessions
  • Professional patient-centered interaction: phenomena of experiencing health and disease; motivation of patients and relatives; dealing with different aspects of religion, culture, ways of life and value
  • Constructive discussion in conflict situations
