My Erasmus journey started with “Treasure Hunting” at the city center. Unfortunately, I could not make it for the first day of the Welcome event (which I was told is a big loss), but I enjoyed the “Treasure Hunting” very much. As it was my first day in Villach, it was very useful and educating to walk around the city. I also met other Erasmus students and made friends while “hunting”. Before lockdown, we gathered couple of times and even celebrated birthdays (including mine). Even though, I was not living in a student dormitory, I was in touch with international students via WhatsApp group chat, especially during the lockdown.
During lockdown, we celebrated Easter, and due to my landlords’ hospitality, I got to see how people celebrate Easter in Carinthia. Even though I had different expectations, I enjoyed my time in Villach and CUAS helped me a lot. Although, my courses where online I really enjoyed them as professors made sure that we are comfortable with distance learning.
I really appreciated the opportunity of receiving a bicycle. I enjoyed riding and it was very handful during quarantine when we had no access to public transportation. In addition, it was very helpful to have a buddy. Anytime I needed some information or help I knew whom I can contact.
Overall, during my Erasmus journey I improved my English, learned about Carinthian traditions and cuisine, learned basics of Austrian language and of course made new friends.
