Balancing a job and studies is challenging but definitely doable. Thomas-Karl Lerchbaumer, a successful graduate of Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, chose this path and reports on his career so far.
After graduating from the technical college HTL Mössingerstraße (Informatics & Internet Engineering), Thomas-Karl started his professional career at the IT Service Desk at Infineon in 2006.
“The education at HTL provided me with a very good technical basis for working at Infineon and entering the IT field. Programming databases and the network technology knowledge imparted at HTL were also further indicators that made it easier for me to start my studies at CUAS.”
With a strong will to further educate himself and deepen his IT knowledge, he began his part-time study “Network Engineering” at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences in 2011 with discipline and a great willingness to learn.
“Since I didn’t want to give up my job, I was looking for further education tailored to my needs as a working person. Carinthia University of Applied Sciences made it possible for me to combine work and education, and that convinced me. In addition, Carinthia University of Applied Sciences was also recommended to me in advance by former graduates and colleagues.”
After completing his Bachelor’s degree in Telematics/Network Engineering, Thomas-Karl soon successfully completed his Master’s degree in Communication Engineering.
During his studies, Thomas-Karl Lerchbaumer was able to acquire in-depth expertise in a wide range of technologies and is now benefiting from applying the knowledge and results gained at his new workplace, Windows Client Management.
In his private life, the IT professional dedicates his time to playing ice hockey and chess or firing up the barbecue.
