Das Team von SIETAR Austria mit Sitz an der FH-Kärnten in Villach, dem uA. drei Lehrende der School of Management der FH Kärnten (Eithne Knappitsch, Karin Martin und Colin Heller) angehören, erlebt und schätzt verschiedene Sprachen und Kulturen im Alltag. Nach dem großen Erfolg von „Thriving Thursdays - Mindfulness matters“ startete SIETAR Austria eine weitere Expertengesprächsreihe mit dem Titel „Thriving Thursdays: Multilingualism Matters“. Das Format blieb dasselbe und war nicht minder erfolgreich.
Am 15. Juli 2021 um 18 Uhr spricht nun Dr. Cindy Blance im Rahmen der letzten Veranstaltung aus dieser Reihe zum Thema „Language learning trends in a year like no other: The 2020 Duolingo Language Report.

Dr. Cindy Blanco is a senior learning scientist at Duolingo where she works to develop effective teaching products based on language-learning research. Dr. Blanco studied linguistics and languages, earning a master's in Spanish linguistics and a PhD in linguistics and later working as a postdoctoral researcher in cognitive psychology. Her academic research focused on language acquisition, bilingualism, and phonetics, and she studied language learning in infants, children, and adults. At Duolingo, Dr. Blanco's recent projects have included a deep-dive into learner choices and behavior around the world and communicating with language enthusiasts about linguistics and learning sciences through the Duolingo blog, interviewing experts on social media, and working with journalists.
