Experiences of a teaching exchange: Austria - Tanzania

During our current visit to Tanzania, my colleague Vanessa Berger and I could observe an impressive infrastructural development: A new high-speed train connects now the two major cities Dar es Salaam and Dodoma.

This connection shows how sustainable mobility not only increases travel comfort, but also promotes regional development. It is an exciting example of how infrastructure projects can drive environmentally friendly solutions and lay the foundations for a sustainable future. However, the environmental impact of such infrastructure projects must not be overlooked. For genetic exchange, it must be ensured that wild animals especially large carnivores can migrate. In our project ForestConnect, we are working on connectivity solutions in the Danube region that can also be applied to African countries such as Tanzania.
